This analysis combines three data streams to evaluate and optimise signal performance across the Albert Street corridor.
SCATS Signal Master logs provide cycle-by-cycle phase timing records — green time, cycle length, offset, and degree of saturation (DoS) — for each SCATS site. Data extracted at 15-minute intervals for AM Peak (07:00–09:00), PM Peak (16:00–18:00), and Off-Peak (10:00–15:00) periods.
SCATS Vehicle Sensor data provides per-approach vehicle counts and occupancy measurements. Used to compute arrival flow rates, peak hour factors (PHF), and effective lane utilisation. Combined with SM data to calculate degree of saturation per phase and approach.
TomTom probe vehicle data provides corridor-level travel time measurements for the Albert Street study corridor (Customs St W to Mayoral Dr, ~720m). Speed profiles at 5-minute resolution are used to calculate end-to-end journey time, identify congestion onset, and validate signal coordination offset effectiveness.
